The desktop app is a lightweight native window around Replicas, so it tracks web deployments without requiring a new download.

On macOS, open the DMG, drag Replicas into Applications, and launch it. Builds require macOS 12 or later. On Linux, run the AppImage or install the Debian package. Sign in as you do on the web app. OAuth popups stay inside the app, while other external links open in your default browser.

macOS turn notifications

Replicas sends a native notification when a turn finishes while the app is minimized or in the background. If messages remain queued, Replicas waits until every queued turn finishes. Only regular workspaces in your active sidebar view can trigger notifications; mothership activity stays silent. Select the notification to reopen its workspace. Notifications are suppressed while the app is focused. Closing the window keeps Replicas running so notifications can arrive. Quit Replicas with Command-Q to stop background notifications. Turn on Open links in the desktop app under Dashboard → Personal → Preferences to hand app, dashboard, and workspace links off to the desktop app. A Replicas link you click in Slack, Linear, or GitHub opens the app on that page instead of a browser tab, on every browser you are signed in to. Links to other pages, such as sign-in and marketing pages, stay in the browser. Add ?desktop=0 to any link to keep that one in the browser too. The setting only takes effect on macOS and Linux, where the app runs. Without the app installed the page stays in your browser, though browsers that ask before opening an app still ask first. Each browser tab attempts the hand-off at most once, so that prompt cannot repeat as you move around the app. The macOS app checks for desktop updates automatically. When an update is ready, restart immediately or choose Later to install it the next time you open the app. Linux users install new packages from this page. Web app updates appear without a desktop update.
